About the Artist

Education and Teaching Career

Nella Storm graduated with honors from Penn State University in 1968, receiving her Masters of Education in 1969.

Her teaching career began at Ben Salem High School from 1969 to 1970. She taught at Pennsbury School District from 1970 to 1974 and beginning in 1972 she was Art Coordinator for the district. In the summer of 1973 she taught senior high art classes in Springfield Township Flourtown, Pennsylvania, and was cooperating teacher for students from Moore College of Art, Mansfield and Trenton State Universities. Additionally, Storm taught continuing education classes at Penn State University from 1971 to 1973.

From 1974 to 2004, Storm was art teacher for both elementary and high school students of the Muncy School District in Muncy, Pennsylvania. She was voted the Outstanding Art Educator for the State of Pennsylvania during this time and received the Coalition for Arts in Education Award, the state’s highest award, in the State Capital of Harrisburg. During this time, Storm also coordinated bi-centennial programs for the Muncy School District, taught summer education programs at Penn State University, and lectured on historical 1600’s textiles and furniture at the Lycoming County Museum.

Instituted art history and gifted art programs for grades four through six. Also started art history textiles, ceramics and drawing and painting programs for high school students.

Exhibited student artwork at Kutztown and Penn State Universities.

Personal Life

Married artist Bruce James Storm in 1969. Daughter of Dr. Gordon C. Godbey and Sarah Ratcliffe. Sister to Dr. Geoffrey C. Godbey, (Title?)Gerald C. Godbey and Dr. Galen C. Godbey.
